About Communitas

Communitas is a Latin word for the spirit of community, goodwill, and equality we aspire to promote in each of our properties.

We are more than a property management company. We are a community. All of the Communitas staff and management are part of the communities we serve and maintain.

Tara Betterman

Owner, CEO

Where were you born and raised?
I was born on Long Island New York and was raised between Long Island and Central Florida.

What is your role/title at Communitas Management?
I am the owner/CEO and am in charge of all operations and oversight of $190,000,000.00 worth of condominium association real estate.

How long have you worked at Communitas?
Since I opened the doors in 2003.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my rare moments of spare time I enjoy riding my motorcycle, photography, home improvement, reading James Patterson Novels and spending time with my family.

Name one accomplishment in your life or related to your job that you are most proud of?
I have been blessed to have many accomplishments in my life that I am proud of. If I had to select one I would say November 17, 2003 when I opened the doors of my business.

Paula Barz

Senior Community Manager

Where were you born and raised?
Indianapolis, IN USA.

What is your role/title at Communitas Management?
Senior Community Manager.

How long have you worked at Communitas?
Since 2007.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spend time with my grandkids, going on trips in my motorhome, Indianapolis Colts & watching any football game.

Name one accomplishment in your life or related to your job that you are most proud of?
Earned a designation with Indiana Apartment Association.

Phil Harrison

Accounts Payable

Where were you born and raised?
Columbus, Indiana.

What is your role/title at Communitas Management?
Accounts Payable.

How long have you worked at Communitas?
Since its beginning - 2003.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Watch TV, travel as possible .

Name one accomplishment in your life or related to your job that you are most proud of?
Having the title of uncle.

Kim Koepp

Community Manager

Where were you born and raised?
Washington Court House, Ohio USA.

What is your role/title at Communitas Management?
Community Manager.

How long have you worked at Communitas?
Since 2011.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Entertain with friends, read, play games, spend time with my husband.

Name one accomplishment in your life or related to your job that you are most proud of?
I planned the first televised (4 major networks) press conference for a 13.5 million dollar urban development construction project in Columbus Ohio.

Grant Meranda

Maintenance Supervisor

Where were you born and raised?
Muncie, Indiana.

What is your role/title at Communitas Management?
Maintenance Supervisor responsible for oversight of all community assets.

How long have you worked at Communitas?
Since 2005.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Fishing and Shooting.

Retired 27 years United States Navy SeaBee?s.

William Betterman

Maintenance Coordinator

Where were you born and raised?
Born in Levittown, NY, USA and raised in Orlando, FL, USA.

What is your role/title at Communitas Management?
Client Services/Maintenance Coordinator.

How long have you worked at Communitas?
Since 2009.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Reading, medieval history, RPG, Archery, swimming, computers, movies, collectable card games and video games.

My two wonderful sons! John & Patrick.

Greg Rockel

Accounts Receivable

Where were you born and raised?
Indianapolis, IN.

Accounts Receivable.

How long have you worked at Communitas?
Since July 2007.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Anything with football, basketball, home improvements, movies and dining out with friends or family.

Name one accomplishment in your life or related to your job that you are most proud of?
Obtaining my accounting degree.

Cynthia A. Jones

Administration/Accounting

Washington, PA.

What is your role/title at Communitas Management?
Administration/Accounting.

How long have you worked at Communitas?
Since 2010.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spend time with my husband and grandson, cooking and baking, reading, traveling, yard work, crocheting, decorating, swimming, playing board games and cards, computer games and church activities.

Name one accomplishment in your life or related to your job that you are most proud of?
I am very proud that I was the only one in my family to attend college and graduate with high honors and an Accounting Degree. I had a 3.79 GPA.
